GTPL user ID is the account reference you may need for self-care, support or a recharge. Depending on the page or message, GTPL may call the same customer reference an account number, account ID or customer ID, so the name can be confusing. This guide shows customers where to look first and gives operators a quick way to identify the right record when a customer calls from the shop.
What the GTPL user ID is
Your GTPL user ID identifies your broadband or GTPL service account. It is different from your Wi-Fi name (SSID), Wi-Fi password, router admin password and registered mobile number.
The exact label depends on the GTPL service and screen you are using. You may see:
| Label you see | What it usually refers to |
|---|---|
| User ID or login ID | A credential or account reference used for self-care or a login screen |
| Account ID or customer ID | The identifier attached to your GTPL customer record |
| Account number | The billing reference printed on a GTPL statement, bill or receipt |
| Registered mobile number | The mobile number linked to the account; GTPL’s current public login asks for a 10-digit mobile number |
GTPL’s own FAQ says the account number is a unique number for the billing account and can be checked on the GTPL statement. Its current login page shows a 10-digit mobile-number field and options to use a password or OTP. This means you should follow the field shown on the current GTPL page rather than forcing an account number into a mobile-number box.
What you need before you look
Keep these details ready:
- The latest GTPL bill, statement, receipt or recharge confirmation.
- The mobile number registered for the GTPL connection.
- The customer’s name and installation address, if you are asking a shop or operator to confirm the record.
- Any installation paper or label given by the technician.
Do not share the customer’s password or OTP with a shop, caller or message sender. An operator normally needs enough information to match the correct account, not your login credential. If you are helping another person, let the account holder enter the OTP themselves.
Step 1: Check your GTPL bill or statement
Why this works: GTPL’s published FAQ points customers to the statement for the account number.
- Open the latest GTPL bill, statement, invoice or payment receipt.
- Look near the customer details, billing details or account summary.
- Search for a label such as Account No., Account Number, Account ID, Customer ID or User ID.
- Copy the full value exactly, including any letters, zeroes or hyphens. Do not remove leading zeroes.
Success looks like: you have one clearly labelled account reference that matches the customer name or installation address.
If the document shows several numbers, do not guess. The invoice number, payment reference, transaction ID and mobile number are not automatically the GTPL user ID. Take a clear photo for your own record, but hide the number before posting it in a public group.
For the official reference, see GTPL’s FAQ. The FAQ page includes the question “How to find Account ID or user ID?” and GTPL’s published account guidance says to check the account number on the statement.
Step 2: Check the GTPL login and account page
Why this works: the current GTPL login flow may identify you by your registered mobile number instead of asking for the older self-care user ID directly.
- Open the official GTPL login page yourself. Avoid links received in an unknown SMS or WhatsApp message.
- Enter the 10-digit mobile number registered with GTPL.
- Choose Use OTP or Use Password, depending on what you have set up.
- After signing in, open the account, profile or service details area if it is shown.
- Note the account ID or customer reference displayed there. Save it with the connection name, not with the password.
Success looks like: the page accepts the registered mobile number and the account details belong to the correct GTPL connection.
The login page is not the place to test random numbers from a router sticker. If the registered mobile number is no longer available, use the official support route or ask your local operator to confirm the account after checking the customer’s details.
Step 3: Check old messages, receipts and installation papers
Why this helps: a customer may have received the account reference before the current login page changed to mobile-number login.
- Search your SMS, email and WhatsApp payment records for GTPL, account, customer, user ID, renewal, receipt or recharge.
- Check the original welcome message, printed receipt or installation folder.
- Compare any number you find with the customer name, address or recent bill.
- Keep the matching reference and ignore unrelated transaction IDs.
Success looks like: an old message or paper agrees with the latest GTPL statement.
Some homes have a label on or near the router. Read it carefully, but do not assume every number on it is the GTPL user ID. A normal router label often contains the Wi-Fi name, Wi-Fi password, serial number or MAC address. Use it as the account reference only when the installer or operator has separately labelled it as the GTPL account or user ID.
Step 4: Ask your operator to look it up
Why this works: the local operator can match the connection in the customer register or partner system when the customer has lost the bill.
- Contact the shop or operator who manages the GTPL connection.
- Give the customer name and registered mobile number. Add the installation address or recent payment date if needed.
- Ask specifically for the GTPL account number/user ID, not the Wi-Fi password or router serial number.
- Before using it, ask the operator to confirm the matching customer name and plan or expiry information.
Success looks like: the operator gives you one account reference and confirms the connection it belongs to.
Do not send Aadhaar, bank details or an OTP just to locate a user ID. If the operator needs a document for a separate account change, ask why it is required and use the operator’s normal support process.
Using the GTPL user ID to recharge
The right identifier depends on the recharge page. If the page asks for a registered mobile number, enter the mobile number. If it asks for an account number, account ID or user ID, enter that exact reference from the bill or operator.
Before paying, check three things:
- The customer name or connection details match.
- The plan, due date or renewal details look correct.
- The payment page is the official GTPL page or the trusted page used by your operator.
Never choose an account only because its number looks similar. One wrong digit can take you to another customer record or make it difficult for the operator to trace the payment. Keep the payment receipt after a successful recharge.
Verify the ID before you pay
Use this short check when you have found a number:
| Check | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Identity | Customer name or installation address |
| Source | Latest bill, official account page or operator record |
| Number | Full value, with zeroes and letters unchanged |
| Payment | Receipt or confirmation after recharge |
If one check fails, stop and confirm the reference. This is especially important when a family has more than one GTPL connection, or when the same mobile number is used for more than one service.
How operators can look up any customer’s ID fast
If you run a local broadband shop, the best answer is a clean customer list rather than a notebook full of unlabelled numbers. Keep each customer record connected to the right ISP, plan, expiry, payments and history. When a customer calls, match at least two details before sharing an account reference.
ISP Square is built for operators who resell one or more ISPs. It connects partner accounts for OneBroadband and GTPL, keeps one customer list across the connected ISPs, and shows the connection, plan, expiry, payments and history in the operator’s account. Customer, plan and balance data sync every minute. See the ISP Square features or get started if you want to reduce repeated calls for basic account details.
Plans start low — see current pricing before choosing a plan.
A practical shop-counter process is:
- Ask for the customer’s name and registered mobile number.
- Open the matching GTPL record in your customer list.
- Confirm the connection, plan or expiry before reading out the account reference.
- Help the customer recharge through the correct route.
- Add the receipt or payment note to the record so the next staff member can help without starting again.
This also helps when you manage more than one ISP. For a related example, read One Broadband Partner Login: Run It With GTPL. The broader ISP billing software guide for Indian resellers covers customer records, collections and operator workflows.
Troubleshooting GTPL user ID problems
The number on my bill does not work
Check whether the page is asking for a mobile number, account ID or password. Copy the number again without dropping leading zeroes, then compare it with the latest statement. If it still fails, ask the operator to confirm whether the record is for broadband or another GTPL service.
I only have the Wi-Fi password
The Wi-Fi password is for joining the wireless network. It is not proof of the GTPL account ID. Use the bill, official account page or operator record instead.
My registered mobile number has changed
Do not keep trying old mobile numbers on random pages. Contact GTPL through its official support route or ask your operator to guide you through the account update process. GTPL lists support options on its official contact page.
I have two GTPL connections
Match the ID with the correct name, address and plan before recharge. Save a separate label for each connection in your phone or records so you do not rely on memory.
FAQ
Is GTPL user ID the same as GTPL account number?
They can refer to the same customer account in different GTPL screens, but the label is not always identical. Use the exact field requested by the page and confirm the number against your latest bill or operator record.
Where can I find my GTPL account number?
Start with your latest GTPL statement, bill or receipt. GTPL’s published FAQ guidance says the account number is available on the statement; you can also ask the operator to match the account using your registered mobile number and customer details.
Can I use my GTPL mobile number instead of the user ID?
On GTPL’s current public login page, the sign-in field asks for a 10-digit mobile number and offers OTP or password login. Use the mobile number when that page asks for it; use the account reference when a recharge or support form specifically asks for the user ID or account number.
Can I find the GTPL user ID on my router sticker?
Sometimes an installer may write an account reference on a separate label, but a standard router sticker usually contains Wi-Fi or hardware details. Treat it as the GTPL user ID only when it is clearly labelled and matches your bill or operator record.
What should I do if I still cannot find it?
Ask your local GTPL operator to look up the customer record using the registered mobile number, name and installation address. You can also use GTPL’s official login and contact pages, but never share an OTP or password with anyone who is only helping you locate the ID.
